John Cocuzzi

Performing Thursday, Friday and Saturday

John Cocuzzi is a jazz, blues, swing musician who specializes on the vibraphone and piano, as well as the drums.  His primary influences on vibes are Lionel Hampton and Red Norvo, while his piano playing is influenced by piano greats from both the jazz and blues worlds from Nat “King Cole” and Erroll Garner to “fats” Waller and jelly Roll Morton.

While on tour, he has shared the stage with the classic jazz musicians Harry Allen, Houston Person, Eddie Locke, Peter Appleyard, Howard Alden, Bucky Pizzarelli and Keter Betts, just to name a few.   John’s recordings have been made with classic jazz artists Ken Peplowski, Ed Polcer, Allan Vache, Skitch Henderson, Frank Tate, John Pizzarelli and many others.  His radio recorded sessions have been for NPR’s Riverwalk: Live at the Landing with the Jim Cullum Band.  John has appeared at the North Carolina Jazz Festival seven times in the past and we welcome him back for his 8th year on our stage.
