Dion Tucker grew up in Miami, FL, where he started playing trombone at age 10. He moved to NYC in 1998, where he has since played with the Illinois Jaquet Big Band, Steve Turre & the Sanctified Shells, Ray Charles Big band, Wynton Marsalis and the Count Basie Orchestra.
He is a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and has been a member of Lester Bowie and the Brass Fantasy, the Louie Armstrong Centennial Band, the Clark Terry Big Band and Frank Foster & the Loud Minority. He also tours with Harry Connick Jr. This will be Dion’s first appearance at the North Carolina Jazz Festival.
